The Origins of Chicken Wings

The story of chicken wings begins in Buffalo, New York, during the 1960s. Teressa Bellissimo, the co-owner of the Anchor Bar, accidentally created this iconic dish. She deep-fried leftover chicken wings and tossed them in a spicy hot sauce, serving them with celery sticks and blue cheese dressing. The Buffalo wing was born!

  • Gà Chiên Nước Mắm: Vietnamese fish sauce fried chicken wings are a popular dish. These wings have a delicate outer crust and are tossed in a sweet and savory fish sauce glaze. You can find them on Vietnamese restaurant menus, but they’re also easy to make at home.
  • Lemongrass Marinated Grilled Wings: Another delightful variation involves marinating chicken wings overnight in a Vietnamese lemongrass marinade. These wings are then grilled to perfection, infusing them with rich flavor.
  • In 2023, Vietnam produced approximately 2.3 million metric tons of poultry. The country’s poultry production has been steadily increasing over the years.
  • CPV FOOD Co., Ltd., a member of C.P Vietnam Livestock Joint Stock Company, inaugurated the largest chicken farming complex for export in Southeast Asia in Binh Phuoc. This complex includes breeding, processing, and exporting facilities, contributing to Vietnam’s position as a world-class food producer.
